Killing Secrets

killing secrets

Secrecy is killing the church. Thousands of men and women who name the name of Jesus are secretly involved in addictive practices living double lives. Their addictions include alcohol, pornography, drugs and a host of others. Addiction is a way to mask the pain and deep hurt. They continue to be bound by addictions feeling it would not be safe to reveal their problems to other Christians. A sense of shame, fear and rejection by the church has discouraged them.C ould the average Christian go to his small group and confess his secret addiction and find hope, understanding and help? Sadly, he could find little understanding and help in the average church.

If one has sinned scripture says that he is condemned already. The Holy Spirit convicts Christians of their sins. We Christians are not to judge. Most Christians know when they have sinned against God. They go to church and respond to the invitation because they are looking for hope and deliverance. Fallen Christians want to be free. Are we Christians providing the solutions they need?

Do we have the kind of spirit that attracts those who are practicing secret sins? Could they come to you and I and find help and safety? The church should be a haven for sinners, not a country club for saints. The Good Shepherd came to forgive, heal and restore. Should we not do the same? Jesus had the kind of spirit and ministry that attracted sinners. In fact, the Scripture says he was the friend of sinners.

I look forward to your comments.
